STS, Inc can transform an ordinary concrete floor into a beautiful floor resembling marble or glazed stone. Concrete stained and scored creates the appearance of expensive flooring at a fraction of the cost. Each concrete slab will accept the stain in varying degrees of intensity, creating stunning, multi-hued color variation and a surface that gives the look of perfectly aged concrete.
Chemical stains can be applied to new or old, plain or colored concrete surfaces. Although they are often called acid stains, acid is not an ingredient that colors the concrete. Metallic salts in an acidic water based solution react with hydrated lime in hardened concrete to yield insoluble colored compounds that become a permanent part of the concrete. The acid in chemical stains opens the top surface of the concrete, allowing the metallic slats to reach the free lime deposits. Water from the stain solution then fuels the reaction; usually for about a month after stain has been applied. Concrete dyes provide a broader range of available colors. A coat of clear sealer can dramatically enhance the appearance of stained concrete by adding sheen and bringing out the depth of color.
Floors are easily maintained when protected with several coats of floor finish. Maintenance is simple and only requires mopping and periodic applications of a floor finish-depending on traffic wear.
